PawsitiveCare is prepared to provide high quality and efficient veterinary urgent care for the greater Boston/MetroWest community. Our flexible scheduling allows you to book same day appointments or be seen as a “walk-in” seven days a week, and on select holidays. At PawsitiveCare, you can always expect exceptional care from our entire veterinary staff from start to finish.
PawsitiveCare is also happy to partner with CORE Veterinary Surgical Clinic to provide top-notch and accessible surgical care by a board certified surgeon for your beloved pet.
Our Mission
Our mission at PawsitiveCare is to provide care to pets who have urgent but not emergent issues. These are generally things that cannot/should not wait days to weeks to see their primary care vet, but does not require emergent care and/or hospitalization at a 24 hour emergency hospital.
Conditions that are appropriate for urgent care include:
- Limping/lameness

Vomiting/diarrhea of less than 1-2 days in duration
- Decreased appetite (no more than 1-2 days duration)
- Inappropriate urination or straining to urinate
- Coughing
- Skin infections
- Squinting eyes or discharge from eyes
- Ear infections
- Straining to defecate
- Lethargy
- Toxin ingestion (although some of these cases may need to be referred to a 24 hour facility after initial decontamination)
- Recent foreign body ingestion that can be treated by inducing vomiting (ie dog that eats a sock, underwear or swallows part of a toy, cat that just swallowed string)
If you are not sure if your pet’s issue is appropriate for urgent care, please call and we can help determine if it should be seen by us or if a 24 hours facility would be recommended.
